Key Benefits

This is a first-of- its-kind curriculum in India and has been designed in consultation with international media experts and Times Group Editors.

A unique feature of the curriculum is the stress on practical work. The students spend 60% of their time in state-of- the-art labs learning skills under the guidance of a highly experienced Faculty that has worked in the industry and is familiar with the latest technology. The goal is to make the students industry ready without diluting the academic rigour.

Core Courses
The course prepares students to work in ten fields of media: Print Journalism, Television,Radio, Digital Content Management,
Social Media, Advertising, Public Relations, Event Management, Film Studies, Digital Photography and Communication Theories
Media Trends

A unique component of the programme is a weekly discussion on important developments in the field of media and the way these changes
are impacting the industry. Video conferencing is used to enable top editors and managers of the Times Group to join the discussion, and share their insights. No other course in the world offers such hands on learning.

The objective of the activity is to help students acquire professional skills across media disciplines. In Semester 1, the students produce
a weekly Campus Paper as part of their Minor Project work. In Semester II they set up individual blogs and run a website. In Semester III, they anchor a weekly TV news bulletin and create radio programmes for being broadcast on Internet radio. In Semester IV, they query information under the Right to Information Act and develop publishable quality news reports. They also create public relations campaigns on socially relevant issues during this semester. In Semester V, the students are given the freedom to select the media of their choice for project work. The Semester VI project, which is the course-ending Graduation Project, is much more intensive. The course work involves preparing a theme-based dissertation under Faculty guidance.

The students are required to do two internships during the three-year programme. The first internship is scheduled in the summer break between the second semester and the third semester; and the second internship is scheduled between the fourth and the fifth semesters. Each internship is of six to eight weeks.
